I live half an hour away from this salon, without traffic. If I could find a closer salon that came even close to its quality, I would go there instead. No other hair salon has been able to take my home chemist personality and difficult, wavy, thin hair and do anything useful with it.
Colouring: My stylist calls me the home chemist. One time, I went a little crazy and bleached my locks too soon after dyeing it BACK from bleaching. This was the day before my graduation. The color was bright yellow. They fit me in as an emergency fix, gave me a sandy blonde colour to patch up the botched job, and even left some highlights in to give it dimension. This was with minimal attention, because the colourist actually had another client at the same time, and it still turned out perfectly. My mother has gotten a lot of styling jobs from the same salon, and hers always turn out looking very natural, while masking the grey that's starting to come in. I've seen other colouring jobs that were on the other side of the spectrum--very bold and startling--too, so I would say they have an acceptable range.
Styling: I have switched hairdressers a few times; they all have distinct point of view, which sometimes means that the styling wasn't quite how I wanted. I'm VERY low-maintenance, and I've been going to Michelle down at the Arboretum branch for that reason. Before her, I was going to Anthony up at this branch, and he is GREAT, just his hair styles are more for someone who is willing to put in a little work, and I'm a college student. With that said, though, I've had everything from a super short cut to bangs to long, layered hair, and they've done a great job with each.
The price range for stylists starts at about $35, and that's mostly for people just starting out at the salon. They're all trained well, however, and I've had two beginning stylists with no problem. The people there are very friendly and receptive, and they always offer beverages and have good magazines for the waiting room, not to mention the comfy seats. :]
